DFS this morning. New soap and matching splash along with a new brush.
The soap made a latherpalooza. Very nice scent. I added the menthol drops to the scuttle after the 1st pass. The soap was very slick and had great cushion and residual slickness. The soap and mild razor combo were so smooth I actually over shaved for the 1st time in a looooong while. After some needed pickups I went back to other areas that didn’t really need it.
I could see some slight razor burn and the Barbedeaux lotion let me KNOW I had shaved too close, especially on my cheeks. But the lotion calmed down the inflammation. And then the splash with its menthol really soothed my skin and smells great.
The Mango butter base is my favorite from SS, so I already knew what to expect there. This was a blind buy scent wise and I didn't really know what to expect. Off the tub I was impartial at first but after a few sniffs and uses it grew on me quickly. Lathered up the scent opened up a good bit and this has fall/winter written all over it and I am really enjoying the scent.
Many people want a scent that will clear a room but they are actually looking for a fragrance, not a shave soap. That's the beauty of SS soaps. While they may 'fit' a time of year, the scents don't stick with too long and won't clash with literally any aftershave or fragrance you choose - Bayberry leaning more fall/winter profile. That's a bonus, not a detractor. Less soaps (that don't clash) - more aftershaves for variety
After many years of chasing every soap under the sun, SS has become my favorite artisan. Non tallow, tallow, (mango base is my favorite) - it doesn't matter, I just like their soaps better than any others. Ten was a blind buy, the bergamot peeks out just a bit more giving it a summer-y feel. Cost effective, super lather and the best shaves, Sudsy is all I need
This has a wonderful spicy and citrusy scent, with the sandalwood perfectly balanced with the citrus. Uplifting. It might be masculine but I like it too!
